Last night was Kate's last dose of phenobarbital. We are excited. And nervous.
She's been seizure free for a month now. Awesome!
We're struggling to get her gaining weight. She also is still pretty constipated. We're working with her dietitian and nurse/doc on these issues and hope to be getting the upper hand soon. We agree that these issues are well worth the complete control of seizures, however.
We found out that Kate is very farsighted when we took her in for a vision check last Friday. She will need glasses ASAP so that she can see close up (pretty important for development!). We're working to get an appointment with an pediatric eye specialist soon. Will the issues never cease? Geesh!
Please keep Kate in your thoughts, especially over the next week or so as the last of the phenobarbital works its way out of her system. Thank you!

Oh I'm so happy to hear Kate is still seizure-free...awesome!
glasses, schmasses...that's a tiny hurdle compared to what she's overcome so far.
Keep up the good work Kate!
