Kelly was able to speak at length with the Neurologist from UCSF yesterday.
Dr. Zalinski (sp?), her Neurologist, was clear that he was not overly concerned about the seizures that she is having now. That said, we are still working to get them under control with medication. If the current phenobarb dose does not stop the seizures within 5 days, then we will increase one more time (to the max safe dose). If that doesn't work, we'll try a different medication. If even that doesn't work, we'll try a combination. If all drugs fail, then we'll be back at UCSF for additional tests, etc. Basically, we're in an experiment and see what happens mode at this point.
Dr. Zalinski also said that these kind of seizures (the short shaking ones) are not harmful to her, developmentally or otherwise. If she starts having the seizures where she turns blue, that is an issue. She has not had those kind since last Thursday which landed us in the ER.
Please keep those healing thoughts & prayers coming!
