It has been a very confusing and frustrating weekend/week so far. On Sunday, the on call Neurologist wanted her to come in for an EEG on Monday or Tuesday. When we finally got ahold of another Neurologist on Monday, the story had changed and we're back on the medication plan. Back and forth, back and forth. We are going crazy! The problem is that Kate is being treated by different doctors with different opinions about the best course of action for her.
The current plan (at least for now!) is to change her medication. We will be giving her a newer drug called Keppra instead of the phenobarbitol. During the transition to the new drug, she will be on both (3 days). We started the Keppra last night. She was expectedly more sedated, but I did not notice any seizure activity. She also tolerated the medication much better (it was also half the volume!). Hopefully this one works!
