Kate is doing well!
She had her cardiologist appointment today. Everything seems to be doing well. She had another echocardiogram (I've lost track of how many she's had at this point!). Kelly and I were able to see the valve that was repaired. Kinda looked like a balloon inflating and deflating, but that's just my perspective. Dr. Brook said her valve was leaking very slightly, which is normal for this repair. Her scar is healing nicely, with only the ends a little puckered. He says that they should flatten out with time. All else looks good too.
She's now off her diuretics completely. If it weren't for the seizure med, she would be medicine free. Unfortunately, the diuretic was the one she actually didn't mind taking... such is life!
We will be seeing Dr. Brook again in a month or two. Before that, we will meet with the genetics people regarding her chromosomal abnormality (she's got a small extra piece of chromosome on chromosome #9). They don't see any reason at this point that it should affect her. They've got the science geek in both Kelly and I interested, though!
She's also clear to have her first set of immunizations in a couple of weeks. Yay, more needles... :(
It's looking like this will be our first weekend at home in a few weeks! What to do, what to do...
Enjoy your weekend!
